Crafting Companion with Cristina - New Years Kiss

Unfortunately this has not made it to Cristina although I have tried to send it a few times. I was honored to be able to participate in a crafting companion challenge with her and she gave me the task of creating something in regards to the New Years Kiss.

I used 3 different Cricut cartridges:
Winter Woodland for the Numbers at 1 inch
Cricut Sampler for the Skyline welded on my gypsy twice at 5.71 x 4.06 (I then punched out all the windows and put white paper behind the black to show through the windows and then trimmed around the skyline)
Sweethearts for the people (sitting couple 3.19 x 3.24, standing couple 2.60 x 5.71 and dancing couple 2.64 x 3.24)

I doodled around everything with my Sakura gel pen.

I used a QuicKutz die with my cuttlebug for the large circle that contains the number 1.

I sprinkled Martha Stewart tinsel glitter to look like snow on the buildings and in the background.

The paper used is:
Wonderful Winter by My Minds Eye (I thought it looked like fireworks)
Grey paper is DCWV
Black Paper is The Paper Company

I have been thinking about this for some time and this layout just kept coming back to mind. My daughter actually wants this and will remove the dancing couple to place a New Years picture of herself and her boyfriend.

This was a challenge but I truly enjoyed it. Thanks for letting me play along.

Let me know what you think. And Happy New Year!! May 2011 bring you much happiness and many blessings!

Pillow Pets Cards

My niece and 2 of  my nephews wanted pillow pets for Christmas. So to go with their pillow pets I wanted to make them some cards. There was a Penguin, Panda Bear and Turtle. I used Create a Critter for all 3 of the cards. I entered my turtle into the Flaunt It Fridays challenge.

All background paper is Papertrey Ink, I used the MS snowflake punch and the SU scalloped punch. The stamp was a $1 stamp from Michaels and ribbon and raffia are also from Michaels.

Flaunt It Fridays - Turtle Cut Create A Critter

The Flaunt It Friday challenge this week is to use the Create a Critter turtle on page 64. The challenge was to make something other then a card, but was not required.

I actually did make a card as my nephew wanted the Turtle Pillow Pet for Christmas and I wanted to give him a card to go with it.

The background paper is Papertrey Ink. I used a MS corner punch for the snowflake. For the turtle shell I used the spots and dots cuttlebug folder. The stamp was a $1 stamp from Michaels and the raffia and ribbon are also from Michaels.

But more importantly, remember that this is the day that we received the greatest gift of all....our beautiful Savior Jesus Christ.

Mini Album for Sons Teacher

My sons second grade teacher is a doll. So kind and thoughtful. She also has the cutest little guy named Smith. Well, they will be celebrating Smith's 1st Christmas so I thought I would put together a mini album for her to put all the pictures they will take. For Thanksgiving, I had given her one of the turkey cards I made and she mentioned that she was saving that for this scrapbook so I thought I would give her a hand with this mini album: (warning picture heavy)

Some are Cricut Cuts and some are stickers. My daughter says she wants one too. Oh boy!! Anyway, just as I snapped this last picture the battery on my camera died. Charging now so that we can capture all those beautiful Christmas pictures.

Jenny

Cricut Circle Challenge - Shall We Dance

The Cricut Circle challenge this week is to use the Shall We Dance Cartridge and use 9 of something from this cartridge. I have a sweet friend whose son had his first Tap Recital. While looking through the handbook I found a star that would be my 9 of something. I also used the words Tap and Recital. The drape at the top is from the Christmas cartridge. I added 2 photo mats that I thought she could use to just add her pictures to. I will be giving this to her as one of her Christmas gifts.

Making this did 2 things for me... made me use a cartridge that I had not used yet and really made me want to start putting together more layouts. I have been neglecting making layouts and just making cards.  There is always 2011.

Jenny

Paper Playtime Challenge - Anything Christmas

One of my goals for 2011 is to begin entering more challenges so that I can try new techniques and use more of all the MUST HAVE items I have added to my craft supply. I recently had cut out several Christmas items with my Cricut but have not made the time to actually make them into anything. So, when I read about this challenge I put a cut to use and made a card.

I really do not remember which cartridge this came from - I am thinking Joys of the Season. I used some silver and pick stickles and an ivory Viva Decor where the laces would be. The background paper is Basic Grey and the stamp was a $1 stamp from Michaels.

Peachy Keen Challenge - Embossing

The current Peachy Keen challenge is to emboss something. I made a cute snowman card with a Peachy Keen stamp and dry embossed the background with my snowflake cuttlebug folder. Remember - I am new to Copic coloring so please be kind:

Decorating the old Cubicle

I work 3 days a week in downtown Chicago at a consulting company. Unfortunately it is not the most artistic atmosphere - lots of cubicles. So I thought I would use my Gingerbread cartridge to make some cute cuts to hang in my little space.

I used some cute Peachy Keen faces and buttons, my IRock with gems, bows and google eyes. Sorry about the bad quality of photos but I am in the Midwest here - not much sunshine right now.

Everyone at work loved them and are now asking me to make some for them to have at home.... maybe next year as I have so much going on before Christmas right now.

Have a great day! Blessings, Jenny

I Was Able To Craft

For a little while anyway. The house is all festified so I took an hour for myself to just create a little. I have a package that needs to go in the mail and wanted to make a little card to go with it.

I used Create a Critter for the reindeer, a $1 stamp from Michaels and the patterned paper is a little 6x6 pad from Basic Grey.

Have a great day!

Where Have I Been?

Well - getting ready for Christmas silly... Anyway I have now put together 16 goodie bags for some friends. Some work, some football moms and some teachers. When you are cutting everything out it really seems like a piece of cake. But when it comes to the assembly - now that is where it is time consuming. For  each of my gift bags I made 6 monogram note cards, 1 cupcake sock holder and 1 jar of sugar soap scrub (thanks Greenbean for the cupcake and soap idea!!).

I wanted to get more creative with things but I have so much more to get to yet.  I still have not even gotten my Christmas cards in the mail. I hope to be able to work on somethings this afternoon so that I will have posts for you all week.

Have a Blessed day, Jenny

Angel Card

My small group and I wanted to Bless a Family that we had heard of where the husband was out of work and the wife was not working a full time job. We wanted the gift to be anonymous but to be able to provide them with a nice Thanksgiving dinner. So I whipped together this card and we bought them a gift card to be used as they needed.
